The Accelerator is designed to foster storytelling that uplifts and empowers, sparking broader conversations about what it means to build mental resilience and emotional capacity.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

The Mental Health Accelerator will invite applicants with prior filmmaking experience to apply for a grant of $20,000 to create a short film focused on a mental health story.

FUNDING

FUNDING

Up to 3 filmmakers will be selected to receive $20,000 each in funding

FOCUS

FOCUS

The story should center on a mental health topic, and the portrayal must include depictions of resiliency and capacity.

SCREENING

SCREENING

The films must be completed between February 1 and April 15 of 2026 to be screened at an event in May 2026.

The Mental Health Accelerator is for…

Filmmakers age 21 or over

Filmmakers who are legally permitted to work in the U.S. and who will reside in the U.S. for the duration of the program

Filmmakers who have created at least 2 previous short films to serve as a sample of work

Filmmakers creating a work of fiction

Filmmakers who are writer/directors and who have been granted the rights to create a short film based on their script

Other information…

Priority will be given to applicants whose short film can serve as proof of concept for a larger feature project

While writer/director teams may apply, teams are only eligible for 1 award
